The Himeji City Museum of Art is located in a preserved Meiji Era building. This fashionable red brick building located on the east side of the Himeji Castle World Heritage Site is surrounded by lush green lawn. After winning Hyogo Prefecture’s first Green Building Award in 1985 and the Environmental Color 10 Selections of Public Colors Award in 1988, the building was specified a Registered Tangible Cultural Property of Japan in 2003.
In addition to a permanent exhibition and special exhibitions showcasing both domestic and international items, the museum also engages in a variety education and informative activities including hosting special events.
