Believed to have been built in the era of Emperor Kotoku, Kasagata-jinja Shrine is located within a prefectural nature park. The sacred Hinoki cypress tree used for the western pillar of Himeji Catsle during its major restoration in the Showa Era was cut down from within the temple grounds.
